Great news everyone, OmniPlan 1.6 Final has been released! Awww yea!

As always, we’d like to thank everyone who provided crash reports, bug reports, and feedback over the last couple of months. If you have not been following our betas there are a number of fixes in this release. Check out the highlights:

  • Importing Microsoft Project 2007 files is now supported.
  • Many fixes to improve the stability, completeness, and correctness of imports.
  • Improved resource leveling performance, fixed hangs and resource over-allocation problems.
  • Dragging on the Gantt chart no longer gets stuck with some third party mouse input drivers (Wacom tablet mouse and Synergy keyboard/mouse sharing software to name two).
  • Copying tasks from one project to another no longer crashes with deeper resource hierarchies and is now more conservative about merging resources.
  • Much, much more! Click here for all the gritty details.

Only minor changes from beta 2. Ampersands and other punctuation in files names will no longer prevent a QuickLook preview from being generated. The Find window will appear in the space you called it from instead of the one it was first opened in.

You can find the full release notes here and the download page here. Enjoy!

OmniGraffle 5.1 beta 1 is now available

Hot on the heels of the release of OmniGraffle 5.0.2, here comes the first beta release of OmniGraffle 5.1.

Lots and lots of bug fixes, and some new features to pique your interest — Our Visio import support now includes Enhanced MetaFiles, we’ve finagled with the interface of the sidebars a fair bit to try and maintain focus in the main canvas area as much as possible, and added a new smart shape for making pie chart/arc/wedge type shapes.

Copious release notes and the beta disk images are available at the OmniGraffle beta page.

We’re happy and confident with the Japanese localization fixes, so the 5.0.2 release of OmniGraffle and OmniGraffle Professional has been declared final.

Just a small handful of items for the Japanese localization mended this go around that were discovered after the release of beta 1.

The good news is, we’re now this much closer to getting to the beta releases of OmniGraffle 5.1.

    OmniPlan 1.6 rc 1 Released!

posted by Skwirl on 08.14.08 @ 4:48 pm

Hello OmniPlan users! we’re getting very close to OmniPlan 1.6 final so if you find any issues with this release, please let us know as soon as possible!

Some highlights include a fix for an issue where importing files that included duplicate task or resource UIDs were not resolvable and made OmniPlan unstable. We also fixed some leveling issues involving schedule exceptions that would either infinitely loop or set a task’s end date earlier than the actual start date.

Please keep in mind that this release is still under development. There are many more changes in this version which you can read about in our complete release notes here.

Your feedback will help us improve the software and we apologize if it breaks your computer, corrupts your files, and ruins your weekend.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments. You can contact us directly via our support page or by using the Send Feedback feature in your copy of OmniPlan.

OK, enough chit-chat, you can download the rc here!

Sorry for the beta expiring on you! Beta 2 is now ready with a few fixes. QuickLook support has been improved to support summary cells and the broken image links are fixed. The esc and enter key will also once again toggle edit states when the appropriate defaults are set.

OmniGraffle 5.0.2 beta 1 is now available

As promised, here is a small beta release focusing squarely on localization fixes. We got these changes too close to the release of OmniGraffle 5.0.1, so here they are in their own release.

Quite a number of fixes to the Japanese Help and User Interface have been made, and we’ve amended the “Paste and Match Style” string to reflect the iWork apps in German.

Since there’s no code changes from OmniGraffle 5.0.1, there’s no rush to download this beta unless you have an interest in the Japanese localization, on the other hand, code-wise it’s the same as 5.0.1. (more or less)

As ever, the beta page awaits!

    Omniplan 1.6 Beta 2 Released!

posted by Skwirl on 07.29.08 @ 5:37 pm

Hey everybody, OmniPlan 1.6 Beta 2 is ready for public beta testing!

We fixed some more leveling bugs that could overload resources and cause infinite loops, a regression bug that caused work schedules to be shifted, some issues with importing Microsoft Project files, and made the fill color on Gantt bars in images and printouts match more closely to what’s rendered on-screen.

Please keep in mind that this release is still under development. There are many more changes in this version which you can read about in our complete release notes here.

Your feedback will help us improve the software and we apologize if it breaks your computer, corrupts your files, and ruins your weekend.

It’s alive! OmniOutliner 3.7 beta 1 is here, now with QuickLook!

posted by dmo on 07.28.08 @ 11:00 am

I know things have been rather quiet on the OmniOutliner front, but 3.7 beta 1 is now available! Highlights include:

    • QuickLook support - It’s dynamically created with XSLT using the same transform as the dynamic HTML export. This means you can expand and collapse sections in the preview.
    • New high-res icons for 10.5
    • OmniFocus protocol support so you can script or type in OmniFocus links

There’s also a number of bug and crash fixes included. A big one being that we’ve changed how backup saves are handled for file wrappers (the default file format). The backup copy will now be saved to the hidden file .OOBK inside the wrapper. This is to work around a 16 MB file size limit that was discovered. If you’ve edited your document to be a flat file, it will still save to the resource fork of the file with the 16 MB size limit.

You can download the beta here and read the full release notes here. And as always, if you have any feedback or bug reports, please contact our Support Ninjas using the Send Feedback option under the Help menu or at omnioutliner@omnigroup.com
