OmniPlan 1.5.1 Beta 1 Released!

posted by Skwirl on 03.20.08 @ 5:04 pm

OmniPlan 1.5.1 beta 1 is now available and is a free update for existing OmniPlan 1.x owners. By now, you’ve probably already updated to OmniPlan 1.5 but if you haven’t and you’re on Mac OS X Leopard, we highly recommend that you do so as soon as possible.

Some highlights of this version include fixes for a crash when leveling selected tasks, a crash when filtering custom data, a bug where projects would always open with the previously used filter applied, and an issue under Leopard where spaces were not allowed in the gantt chart date headers. We’ve also addressed some issues with the Japanese localization and OmniPlan is now code signed to ensure its integrity and security. If you are experiencing any issues in beta 1, please let us know as soon as possible.

This version also includes some other bug fixes and enhancements (far too many to list here). To learn more about the changes in 1.5.1 beta 1, please see the release notes for more details!

Please keep in mind that this release is still under development. Your feedback will help us improve the software, and we apologize if it breaks your computer, corrupts your files, and ruins your weekend. A more stable release is also available. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or comments. You can contact us directly via our support page or by using the Send Feedback feature in your copy of OmniPlan.

For current 1.5 users, you can use our nifty new software updater to download and install the new beta. For everyone else, go here to download the beta!

OmniFocus 1.0.1 now available

posted by kaebot on 03.13.08 @ 4:29 pm

Good news, everyone! As the cryptic title suggests, OmniFocus 1.0.1 is now available. Here’s a list of the haps:

  • Stability
    • Updated our error handling support to catch more cases where there is a possible problem and promote it to a crash, so that we can then fix it. Since OmniFocus always keeps its data in a saved state, the net effect of this is that any such exception won’t be able to cause data corruption.
    • Copy a workaround for a bug in Mac OS X 10.5 that can cause a crash when using the keyboard to navigate between cells in the outline.
    • Fixed exception where committing editing on a row caused that row to be collated into a different group.
    • Fixed a few glitches in the AppleScript suite that could cause scripting errors.
    • Fixed exceptions when parsing some European date formats. Updated the date parsing to log details about the date format if there is a problem parsing a date, allowing the user to more easily gather the relevant information in the future.
    • Fixed an occasional hang when performing a manual check for updates when no updates are available.
    • Clicking on a link to a recently deleted task will no longer cause an error.
    • We now ignore and log exceptions raised from Growl.
    • Fixed bug causing the available/due soon/overdue timer to fire too often in some cases.
    • iCal syncing will now deal with unnamed calendars.
  • Interface
    • The Perspectives menu now always has options to make a new perspective or save a snapshot of the current view settings into the current perspective.
    • The Clear Perspective command has been folded into the Revert to Default View command, so you don’t have to take two steps to get back to normal.
    • Actions created in context mode should no longer appear to be missing their project, once it is assigned.
    • Updated usage of shadows in the interface to match changes made in Mac OS X 10.5.
    • Empty projects with a start date will now get the normal project icon once its start date passes instead of getting stuck with the ‘pending’ badge.
    • The flag icon should now show up appropriately in HTML exports.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Various small updates to the online help.
    • Turned off some debug logging in the Clip-o-Tron 3000.
    • Software Update will now only show you builds on the same track that you are running. So, if you want to see sneakypeek builds, you’ll need to manually download one sneakypeek build from theĀ main OmniFocus site.
  • Internationalization
    • Fixed several issues that would prevent internationalization. No localizations are in place, but those are in progress for a future release.

And, as always, work continues. Thanks to all of those who helped out during the SneakyPeek!

OmniGraffle 5.0 is final!

posted by Joel on 03.05.08 @ 12:01 pm

Well, after a lengthy beta testing period, OmniGraffle 5.0 and OmniGraffle Professional 5.0 are now released in final form, we’d like to thank all of the beta testers for their feedback, and I hope we didn’t scare too many folks with the lack of a built-in license key in the release candidate.

Pricing

OmniGraffle 5 is currently available for purchase at the Omni Store. It’s $99.95, and upgrades from earlier versions of OmniGraffle are $39.95. OmniGraffle Professional 5 is $199.95, and upgrades from earlier versions of OmniGraffle are $74.95. You can find out more pricing and upgrade information at the store.

You can download OmniGraffle 5 or OmniGraffle Professional 5 from the OmniGraffle download page, and a review of the long storied release notes are found here.

Operating System Requirements

OmniGraffle 5.0 release candidate 1 is now available

posted by Joel on 02.27.08 @ 3:33 pm

Oh, we are so close.

For those unaware, a release candidate represents the version of the application that we think is going to wind up being the final release, so in a week or two you can expect the final version of OmniGraffle 5 to be in the spots traditionally held by versions 4, 3, 2, and so forth.

Of course, we’re a bit on the cautious side as well, hence the appending of the number 1 after the words “release candidate”.

Quite a few bug fixes and crashes addressed in this release, plus final fit and finish to the localizations.

A very interesting point to bring up:

This release does not have an internal license key as the prior beta releases did, OmniGraffle 5 will operate without a license key for two weeks, so fret not - this is also an important bit of testing going on.

You can download the release candidate from the beta page, and read copious release notes here.

OmniGraffle 5.0 beta 7 is now available

posted by Joel on 02.07.08 @ 6:11 pm

As I gaze out over the release notes, I see there have been many many changes and fixes since the last beta release. I myself am not as familiar with them as I might be, I have been on a short vacation and of course got sick at the end of it, as that’s what seems to happen when you go on a short vacation, you get sick.

So some nice folks (notably Andrew and Troy) handled the release today, while I’ve been watching from afar, trapped in my apartment due to this blasted chest cold.

In any case, we’re zeroing in on a final release, getting ever closer, fit and finish and polish and the rest.

You can read Andrew’s copious release notes at the historical release notes page, or see them as well at the beta page, where downloading is as always possible.

OmniPlan 1.5 RC 2 Released!

posted by Skwirl on 02.06.08 @ 11:20 pm

OmniPlan 1.5 RC 2 is now available and is a free update for existing OmniPlan 1.x owners. Thanks to all you brave testers out there, we’re now closer than ever to releasing the final. If you find any issues in RC 2 please please please let us know as soon as you can. Also, if you’re a Leopard user we strongly recommend that you use OmniPlan 1.5 instead because there are some known issues between OmniPlan 1.1.2 and Leopard.

Highlights of this version include a permanent solution to prevent the overlaid progress meter that comes up for some slow operations from forcing Spaces to switch to the space containing the document window. If you previously disabled the progress meter entirely as we suggested in the release notes for OmniPlan-1.5 beta 3, they will remain disabled until specifically reenabled. In a Terminal window, type “defaults delete com.omnigroup.OmniPlan LongOperationIndicatorDisabled” We also patched up the Automatic Software Update interface in the Italian localization.

To learn more about all the changes in OmniPlan 1.5, please see the release notes for more details!

For current 1.5 beta users, you can use our nifty new software updater to download and install the new beta. For everyone else, go here to download the RC!
