posted by Joel on 03.05.08 @ 12:01 pm
Well, after a lengthy beta testing period, OmniGraffle 5.0 and OmniGraffle Professional 5.0 are now released in final form, we’d like to thank all of the beta testers for their feedback, and I hope we didn’t scare too many folks with the lack of a built-in license key in the release candidate.
Pricing
OmniGraffle 5 is currently available for purchase at the Omni Store. It’s $99.95, and upgrades from earlier versions of OmniGraffle are $39.95. OmniGraffle Professional 5 is $199.95, and upgrades from earlier versions of OmniGraffle are $74.95. You can find out more pricing and upgrade information at the store.
You can download OmniGraffle 5 or OmniGraffle Professional 5 from the OmniGraffle download page, and a review of the long storied release notes are found here.
Operating System Requirements
OmniGraffle 5 and OmniGraffle Professional 5 require Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or later to run.

I bought OmniGraffle 4 a few weeks ago in order to get a free upgrade to OmniGraffle 5. Where can I order my OmniGraffle 5 license?

Daniel, you should receive your free upgrade license via email within the next 24 hours or so.

Congrats on the great product. Makes my life working in a mixed world with Visio, a breeze. Pity the shadows don’t make it over to Visio… My first impression was the upgrade of $75 was pretty high but looking at the amount of change we have from 4.0, I’d say it is worth it

Got my version 5 license automatically - great service. An amazing program that leaves my PC friends wondering how I can hire a graphic artist to do my presentations.

Thank you, Ethan, another great version, by the way!

I just bought my license of Graffle a few weeks ago, too. Do I have to buy an upgrade and spend nearly the same price again?

OmniGraffle is one of the most beautiful pieces of software I’ve ever used. It and MacOS 8.0 are what won me over from the Dark Side ages ago. But I’ve got to tell you, I’ve never seen a more relatively expensive program to upgrade. I really don’t get to use it often, so $79 to upgrade is hard to justify. Oh well, I guess it needs one lame feature.

Shame it requires Leopard. If it didn’t, it would have been a sale. As it is, my boss balked at having to shell out for two upgrades.
Your loss, and mine too. Visio in VMware for me.

Hooray, I just bought my license for v4 after having an old bundle license for v3, and now get this upgrade free! Sweet cheese.
I can’t help but wonder aloud - what happened to the GUI stencils in version 3? I didn’t use V4 for long enough to know when exactly they disappeared, but I really liked them, the fake Aqua-ish grid layouts and things.
